7-DAY TREKKING AROUND OSONA

The trek begins with a meeting in the afternoon between the organizers and participants in Vic, Osona’s capital which has an important architectural heritage. The group will have a reception dinner and will overnight in a hotel in the city.

The frist day of the trek will cross the esatern part of the Plana de Vic, between Vic and Tavèrnoles, a small village on the border between the plain and the mountains of Savassona and les Guilleries. We overnight in the village of Tavèrnoles, in a rural guest house.

On the second day we will discover the mountains of Savassona and les Guilleries. Forests and cliffs will accompany us through this land of bandits, with spectacular views from Puig del Far, a 832 metre-summit. We will have to cross the river Ter over the dam of Sau to overnight in a rural hotel.

On the third day ww will see a spectacular change in the natural landscape as we leave les Guilleries to enter into el Collsacabra. To do this we will have to climb to the red and white dizzying cliffs of Tavertet via the spectacular natural viewpoint called “Morro de l’Abella” – Bee’s nose- next to the stunning waterfall of Tirabous. We will overnight in the village of Taveretet in a rural guest house.

On the fourth day we will experience the heart of el Collsacabra, where the weather allows the growth of wet forests, similar to those of central Europe. The rock is an important part of the landscape creating strange formations and caves. We will overnight in a rural guest house in the middle of el Collsacabra.

On the fifth day, the hardest day of the trek, we will cross spectacular landscapes in el Collsacabra to reach the mountain of Bellmunt, crowned by the sanctuary that the catalan poet Jacint Verdaguer defined as “The chapel suspended in the sky” in his poem “The Emigrant”. The moist air allows the beech tree to occupy this area, forming a humid forest of which la Grevolosa is its best example, whith some trees listed as heritage trees. We will overnight in a privileged place: the Bellmunt Sactuary.

On the sixth day we will descend from Bellmunt to the village of Torelló. The landscape becomes more Mediterranean. In Torelló we will take the train to reach Vic, where, depending on the hour, we can visit the lively market on Saturday. We will stay in a hotel in the city.

The seventh day, after breakfast, will be the day of farewells.

Afternoons are free and each participant can pursue the activities they wish. There will be the possibility of additional organized activities that are available on this website (visit the ACTIVITIES section). To carry out some of the activites a minimum number of participants are needed, and in some cases dependent territory, so not all can be made each day of the trek.
